Building Room to Read

Recipients of Room to Read's scholarships gather outside a library that the project built in Siem Reap province in Cambodia. The group started a program to offer girls long-term scholarships after learning that many families could only afford to send one child to school--even to public school--and they often chose a boy. Room to Read estimates the cost for supplies and fees for each girl at $250 a year.
