Welcome to Blog for a Book! My name is Aimee Geurts and I am a volunteer for the Denver/Boulder Chapter of Room to Read. Room to Read partners with local communities throughout the developing world to establish schools and libraries. Through this blog I'll keep you up to date on the trials and tribulations of my progress, as well as that of our local chapter, in addition to any other local volunteer opportunities that come my way!

Aimee, I'm proud to have a friend who's working toward such an ambitious and worthy goal. Reading was an integral part of my childhood, and I hope your efforts lead some of today's kids to share in the wonderful experience of literature. I remember reading through my mother's library in her classroom. I read all of her Encylopedia Brown series and The Chronicles of Narnia, and my memories of those hours still bring a smile to my face. Thank you for the work you're doing.
I agree with Steve and I also read Encyclopedia Brown. In fact, I did so many book reports on that little sleuth that my teacher told me to do them on a different book. Then maybe it was Sweet Valley Twins or Beverly Cleary.
My dad says he would read me Dumbo when I was little and he would change the words to make me mad. Instead of "MAD ELEPHANT" he would say "IRATE ELEPHANT" and I would throw a fit because those were not the words! I have no idea what that has to do with anything.
Hi Aimee - I'm a Room to Read fan in Boston and you're inspiring me to do an event here in Boston. I track RtR in my Google Alerts and found your blog. Keep up the great work.
I think I'm a little older than this crowd. I read Encyclopedia Brown to my son (!) and read every horse book ever written (well at least all of Walter Farley) when I was a kid.
